Reports to Operations Team. The horizontal mill operator ensures that the machine is set up properly, functioning well, and producing quality product. He or she runs the machine and adjusts it to control speed, material feed and the punching process. The ideal candidate is safety minded, embraces change, is a problem solver, an innovative thinker, and is experienced in prioritizing production runs to ensure that parts are available to meet production demands. Machine operator is able to sort jobs by material and/or part numbers, sequence operations, and pull/stock material as required.

Job Responsibilities:
Work safely utilizing proper protective equipment and following all safety procedures. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Produce parts for assembly operations that require horizontal milled features
Safely perform loading and unloading of material. Change tools and select required machine programs that ensure quality and productivity.
Follow all manufacturing inventory control procedures and additional paperwork as required.
Learn other appropriate manufacturing job functions and serve as back up in other areas when required.
Assist with machine preventive maintenance using proper lock out/tag out procedures as required.
Meet or exceed productivity per company standards and document downtime and up-time data as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor when needed.
Qualifications:
2-5 years’ experience on a CNC horizontal mill or similar machine in a manufacturing environment. Experience with Elumatec and/or Emmegi is a plus.
Basic understanding of G-Code CNC programming
Experience in a lean manufacturing or continuous improvement manufacturing environment is a plus.
Ability to accurately use and read tape measures, calipers and others as required.
Ability to read drawings and blueprints.
Supervisory experience is a plus
Attention to detail and when in doubt “Stop & Ask”.
Must pass background checks as well as pre-employment physical and drug screen.
